RECENT COINS OF THE CENTRAL AFRICAN STATES INCLUDES BI-METAL

The Central African States is a monetary union made up of the Chad, Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. The monetary union, issues common coins and currency for all the countries, rather than each country having their own money. In 2006 the Central African States introduced a new series of coins, replacing the old designs, some of which had been in use since the 1950’s when the countries were still French colonies! The eight new coins include the 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50, 500 Francs and the bi-metallic 100 Francs. The new designs feature native plants.
