RECENT BI-METALLICS FROM SUDAN PICTURES ANIMALS

Sudan released two bimetallic coins dated 2006. The 22mm 20 Piastres pictures a waterbuffalo. The waterbuffalo is an important store of wealth in much of the country where a monetary economy does not exist. The 24mm 50 Piastrea pictures a dove. After seemingly endless civil wars in southern Sudan and Darfur, the dove is an important sign for peace. Both coins are Uncirculated, but like many of the coins struck at the Khartoum mint, they tend to be poorly struck.
